Nyabihu: environment conservation, a New Year resolution
Conserving environment is every person’s responsibility for their own benefit says Jean de Dieu Nabimana a worker of Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) in Nyabihu district.
Nyabihu district is set to sensitize its residents to conserve environment especially in this year 2013 through sensitization of the public on the benefits of a stable environment.
Nabimana says in 2012, the main emphasis of REMA in Nyabihu district was the fight against eroding land on River banks and lakes, on steep mountains by planting trees and other necessary measures of fighting soil erosion and conserving environment.
People are to take time and learn about the laws that protect environment and all that is necessary for environment to be conserved.
Protecting wetlands, rivers and streams, lakes, mountains, explaining and making known the law that protects the environment will be emphasized in 2013 to avoid and prevent the effects of environmental degradation.
